Base for Dadant Blatt & Langstroth hives, especially for plastic hives, although it can also be used as a base for conventional Dadant Blatt & Langstroth fixed wooden hives.
This is a fully ventilated grid base that fulfils its function as a sanitary floor, since all the varroa that is removed falls directly to the ground, making it impossible for it to rise back to the hive. It is possible to put a tray on it to control this fall and/or to close the passage of ventilation current in winter.
Very light and resistant, made of an injected grid with holes of the same size as the grids used in pollen traps. This base can therefore be converted into a ground pollen trap in a very versatile and simple way. It also has side holes for the screws that hold it to the hive body and notches for the retaining clips. A strip in the centre of the entrance prevents deformation and allows the hive to be separated into two parts if it is to be used to divide colonies or for queen rearing.
